Discussion:
Changing the Dominant Account
(too old to reply)

I use Eudora for my cable ISP email accounts. I have a dominant
personality and a few secondary.

I would like to delete my dominant account name and transfer
'ownership' to one of my other email accounts.

How do I go about making changes to my Eudora account? Eudora needs
to know my primary account (I think) to sign in. I want to make sure
I know what I'm doing BEFORE I go about changing things to my
accounts.

Thanks.

You don't.

Since you don't want to keep your dominant account, just make all of
its parameters equal to the other account you want to be the dominant.

Then delete that other account.

I'm not clear of the procedure here...I go into my dominant account
and change it to the one I want, then delete my old dominant account
before I check for mail? I'm trying to get it right the first time.

Thanks.

Once you "go into" the dominant account and change it, the old one won't
be there. You'll probably want to delete the personality that you just
made dominant, though, if making an existing account dominant.

With my ISP, I have one major email account that controls all the
others, the master account. I would like to delete the one that my
ISP assigned me when I first joined.

Once I delete that primary account name from my ISP, I will have to
crack open Eudora and do the same here so everything jives. I'm just
trying to understand the whole process before I actually do it as I
don't want to interrupt my email flow.

Thanks.

I don't know what makes your dominant personality different from the
one you now want to become dominant.

Let's say that most things are the same, but you use a different email
address in the two personalities.

In that case, you just change the email address for the dominant
personality to the one you want to use in the future as the dominant
one.

Now, since you have two personalities that are identical, you can just
delete the one that was formerly a named personality (the dominant has
now been changed so it is the same, right?) You can't actually delete
a dominant personality, you can only change it.

You can do all of that before you check for mail. Now, when you check
for mail, the dominant will do the things that the named personality
formerly did.
