Did you purchase 6.2, or were you using it in "Sponsored" or "Light" mod=
e?

If you purchased it, and still have a record of your registration,
and want to install it again, on any computer, you can download 6.2.5.6
http://www.eudora.com/cgi-bin/export.cgi?productid=3DEUDORA_win_6256
http://www.eudora.com/download/eudora/windows/6.2.5/Eudora_6.2.5.6.exe

If you did not purchase 6.2, then you might as well use version 7.1.0.9
in "Sponsored" mode -- there are no more "ads," and the only feature of
version 6 "paid" mode that isn't in version 7 "unpaid" modes is "spamwat=
ch"
http://www.eudora.com/cgi-bin/export.cgi?productid=3DEUDORA_win_7109
http://www.eudora.com/download/eudora/windows/7.1/Eudora_7.1.0.9.exe

All versions of Eudora are actually still available for download
(although Qualcomm could decide at any time to stop offering):
http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/2350hq.html

When you install a new version, it will still work with your old mail fo=
lder.

Version 7.1.0.9 for Windows is the "final" version of "Classic" Eudora b=
y Qualcomm;
a new product "Eudora 8" is meanwhile being developed, but it is actuall=
y
a special version of Thunderbird by Mozilla, and is not yet well develop=
ed,
although it is available for anyone who wants to try it.

I thought it may help u in diagnozing the problem
The single symptom "can't receive" could have many causes,
so it would be useful to add any additional information
(e.g. error message or code?) which might help to narrow it down.

Again, look at various new options,
and reduce them to only what was formerly available
(perhaps "never" for the SSL option, for example),
as well as reviewing that all original options are still as they were.

Eudora has not gone backwards,
and can interface with all POP, IMAP, and SMTP servers;
it's just a matter of the right settings.

http://eudora.com currently says:
"Qualcomm ceased sales of Eudora on May 1st.
The Paid mode commercial versions of Eudora are no longer available
as of May 1st, 2007. The Sponsored mode versions of Eudora
continue to be available for download. An open source version of Eudora
is being developed by Mozilla and will be free of charge."

For additional comments, see "What is Eudora vs Penelope? [final support]"
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.mail.eudora.ms-windows/msg/6cd2fc54254f4632

The "new Eudora" (a modified Thunderbird) is (and will be) free, as stated,
which will guarantee that you'll at least get more than you pay for :)

Free (Sponsored mode) 7.1 blocks part of the screen on left side.
The (now unused) gray "Ad" window can be removed from view:

o Right-click inside window, un-check "Allow docking."

o Left-click as high as possible within window,
that still permits "dragging" the window;
drag down to the very bottom of monitor screen.

The "Ad" window is now no longer seen.

Each re-start of Eudora slightly raises the "Ad" window,
but it takes only half a second to move it back down;
many people restart Eudora only once a day,
so half a second isn't much to care about :)

If the "Mailboxes" window ("tree view") is not desired
(given that the "Mailbox" and "Transfer" _menus_
provide most of the same function)
it can simply be closed (re-open any time via Tools > Mailboxes).

The disadvantage of migrating from 6.2.5.6 "Paid" mode
to 7.1.0.9 "Sponsored" mode would be that the "Spamwatch" (junk mail)
filter is available only in "Paid" mode, not in "Sponsored" mode;
this can be remedied only by obtaining a registration code
for the later version (later codes work on all earlier versions, too).

I happen to have both 6.2.5.6 and 7.1.0.9 installed at the same time
(varying the final installation folder name between "Eudora6" and "Eudora7"),
so I can switch between using different versions on the same mail folder,
just by having a different shortcut to start either version. I also have
"Eudora3," for that matter, but that's now too obsolete to be of interest :)

Glad to hear that the leap between version 4 and version 6 was successful,
and best wishes.

I Downloaded the 6.2.3 version and installed it.
it accepted my key code.
It is likely that 6.2.5.6 will also accept "paid" codes for 6.2.3,
given an announced policy that the cutoff dates
were not intended to be advanced for such minor updates
(no change when only the third digit changes in version number).

A default new setting may not be suitable for your SMTP server;
if your server does not require authentication, for example,
you could un-check the "allow authentication" option box,
and perhaps also change the "SSL" option to "never."

A thorough, one-time review of all options might be useful,
because of the many features added.
