Eudora 7.1: why do I get some strange writings?

Hi,
Eudora doesn't like words with accents.
Every time I get email with some accents my email is unreadable.
This is the email I got some hours ago.
Look here:

Dia livre para exploração as diferentes zonas onde habita o povo
Mumuila. Deslocação em viatura com ar condicionado conduzido por um
motorista/guia experiente.
Alojamento em tenda (não incluído). Alimentação (não incluído).

Is it possible to solve that problem?
Thanks

Eudora has not been updated after 2006 when Qualcomm stopped further
development of the program. Your message was written using UTF-8
encoding that Eudora doesn't understand.

One of many useful Eudora ad-ons by Brana Bujenovic is Message-file
Viewer which makes it possible to read messages in many foreign
languages. You can download it here:

http://www.drivehq.com/web/brana/plugins.htm

You can put icons for the Viewer on your toolbar. When you receive a
message like the one you posted just hit one of the icons (one for
plain text and one for html) and a new window with the corrected text
will open on top of the received message.

Using the Viewer your message is as follows:

Apos pequeno-almoço partida para a Chibia para encontro do grupo
étnico Mumuila onde irá permanecer e conviver com os membros do
grupo para conhecimento profundo dos hábitos desse grupo étnico.

Nice reply, I thank you. But it doesn't work with my Eudora 7.1. Maybe
I'm making some error even if it is so easy.
I downloaded Message Viewer 3.7. I put those 2 files in the Eudora's
main data folder "Plugins" in Programs x86.

I follow this path Usage: Open the message, hit "Edit/Message
Plug-in/Message Viewer". Adjust code-page, text size and type, if
necessary via View menu.

But when I open Eudora and I open that message I don't see "Message
Viewer" in "Edit/Message Plug-in". What could I do please?
Thanks

Please state the exact paths... There is no "Programs x86", and
Eudora's DATA directory should be different for each user account on the
computer.

On my computer, the DLL is placed in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Qualcomm\Eudora\plugins

while my data files are in:

C:\Users\Wulfraed\AppData\Roaming\Qualcomm\Eudora

The only file that needs to be moved is the DLL -- the other file is a
README on how to install/use it.

{Interesting -- I seem to have versions of the viewer DLL in both "Program
Files (x86)..." and in my user data "...\Eudora\plugins" directory, and
even after renaming the latter Eudora's plug-in configuration page is
showing version 3.1.0.1.

Might need a system reboot to clear out cached DLLs...

OTOH -- I've been using Pandora for a year and a half now. Still has a few
glitches, but hasn't needed as much overhead configuration [the UTF-8 and
SSL certificate stuff for Eudora]}

Brana's instructions say to place the dll file in the data directory.
The ini file that will be created when you make the adjustments in the
view menu cannot be saved when it is created in Program Files. That
works for only one session of Eudora.

Interesting -- I just looked and an INI file was created in my Eudora
data directory... Just a few moments ago, when I opened the readme file
(which is now an EML extension and invoked the message viewer; I think via
Pandora -- which is the curiosity, why create an INI in Eudora's data
directory if the association is running via Pandora... Suppose I may have
confused my system and the EML association is going to the Eudora program
directory viewer DLL).

Though I'd think a proper plug-in should be smart enough to use the
user data directory for customization, regardless of which directory the
DLL is invoked via...

More perplexing... I'd renamed the files in the data directory early
this morning (to viewer.dll-old, etc.) -- and just checked the registry
association for .eml... and the registry recorded the renames! So it may
have been still using the old viewer DLL. Just toggled settings in Pandora
and that looks to have reset .eml to Pandora's copy of the viewer.

I did it, but I don't see that writing "Message

Neither do I...

I have

View - Plain Text Version
View - HTML Version

Special/Message Plug-in Settings

has
Message-File Viewer

The only reason I can imagine for Eudora not picking up the viewer
plug-in is that however you are starting Eudora it is NOT using that normal
data directory.

In Eudora, go to Help > About Eudora

At the bottom: What are the exact paths for Data: and Application: ?

You must be using a Windows version newer than XP. In those newer
versions Windows doesn't allow data in the Program Files area and
cannot write changes made in the data folder. That explains that the
changes you made in the view menu were not saved.

To correct this you should move your data folder out of the Program
Files area. The Eudora installer proposes a default location, but any
location outside of Program Files is fine.

Unfortunately, no!
It had to be so easy but it is so hard for me. I use PCs for many
years but this Eudora step is hard for me. Maybe I don't understand
well english.

I put Viewer.dll in AppData/Roaming/Qualcom/Eudora/Plugins and even in
Programs (x86)/Qualcom/Eudora/Plugins. I was afraid to make an error
on the path and I put 2 Viewer.dll files.
Ten I opened Eudora and I opened that strange portuguese message, then
I went immediately to Edit/Message Plug-ins on Eudora Menu
but I don't see "Message Viewer". Look at the pic.
Loading Image...
I don't know if I need to make some other steps after putting that
Viewer.dll file on that path before opening Eudora.

For me it is importat to solve this problem. Please, help me.
Thanks
