Some of you might be interested in testing the alpha version of Hermes mail, available from

https://sourceforge.net/projects/hermesmail/

This is a project that took the source code of Eudora and started fixing the most relevant problems in the latest Eudora 7 release. There have been a few problems in this project because not all the Eudora 7 modules were reusable but as a Eudora user I hope this project succeeds to deliver the beta and the final release versions.

I don't see any version numbers for this download. How are you identifying the different versions?

I tried that now.

1. The design is really ... retro on Windows 10. The fonts look
rather awkward.
2. I got a crash right at the start.

Honestly, Pandora Mail is superior in my opinion. But I *will* keep an
eye on Hermes. It looks like you are really motivated to make this a
good alternative. I'm looking forward to it.

Well, the Hermes package that's available now is Eudora 7.1 with new dictionaries and QCSSL, so it trusts certificates properly. Hermes 8.0 is coming out soon; that's got a special focus on language tools (UTF8, Hunspell, new HTML renderer, localisation), so for the international crowd it's an unmitigated blessing. Planning is underway for HM8.5.

The idea is to give Eudora the same support that Qualcomm couldn't, because it didn't "move the needle" for them (you have to admit, a somewhat-niche eMail client isn't going to look significant for a multimillion-dollar microprocessor corporation).

I downloaded Heres tonight and it looks just like my old Eudora. However, it is not working. What changes do I need to make in order for me to be able to use it.
