I have been using Eudora 7.1.0.9 forever. I love it!!! The only problem is that AT&T/Yahoo sometimes change something (usually related to SSL) and I can no longer send email. I tried Eudora 8.0 Beta 9, and it worked, but it has some awkward features that need fixing. E.g. when I mail to a list of people, the email addresses are listed, but not the mnemonic name of the list, by which I know it.

The documentation is chaotic. How do I get a version of Eudora that works in Windows 10 AND IS WELL DOCUMENTED?

Where is the documentation for Eudora 8.0 Beta 9? At http://wiki.mozilla.org/Documentation_Project I see "Warning: The content of this page is obsolete and kept for archiving purposes of past processes." I'm trying to use the program, but it is incomprehensible. I downloaded "Eudora OSE", but the file is corrupted and wouldn't install.

Neither of those is real "Eudora".

"OSE" is a skin over Mozilla Thunderbird, and that Beta was someone's
attempt at creating a look-alike for Eudora, using a new code base.

The closest thing to real Eudora that currently functions appears to be
Pandora http://www.drivehq.com/web/brana/pandora.htm (note: the trial
version only handles one personality, one signature, probably one filter,
etc.).

An attempt to recreate Eudora using the recently released source code
is Hermes https://sourceforge.net/projects/hermesmail/ but that is only
into an Alpha release state as the developers have to replace all the
non-free/licensed libraries the original Eudora had made use of.

However, while you peruse the second link... Have you
downloaded/installed the contents of HermSSL.zip (on the Files tab)? This
file contains both an updated SSL library AND updated root server
certificate chains -- the main problem with Eudora itself when it comes to
SSL errors is that it doesn't know about current root certificates, and so
rejects anything derived from one. Installing (per instructions in the
file) the new DLL and certificates into Eudora's directories is supposed to
clear up lots of SSL problems.

Why do I have two Inboxes? One is associated with ***@pacbell.net on inbound.att.net & contains emails imported from my Eudora 7.1.0.9 account, and one is associated with "Local Folders". What the heck is that?

I would suspect the key word is "imported". Many email clients "import"
by making a new (non-live) folder for the imported file -- they don't
read/parse the imported file and route copies to the equivalently named
standard mailbox files. "Local Folders" most likely means the native (live)
in/out/trash/sent boxes of the client.

Why not just use Eudora 7.1.0.9 along with the Hermes QCSSl update at:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/hermesmail/files/HermSSL.zip/download?use_mirror=svwh&r=&use_mirror=svwh

which is what the majority of Eudora users are doing these days and
fixes the SSL problems. Others use STunnel (along with Eudora) with
success though I haven't tried it.

Eudora OSE and Eudora 8 are not Eudora.

Thanks!! But someone please correct the documentation, so others don't
have to go through this!!

I tried STunnel, but it didn't help.
